In June 2026 we spent a day at St Mary’s Junior School in Long Ditton, Surrey. The children worked with our musicians and with sixth-form mentors from Esher Sixth Form College on their own settings of the Green Man. That evening they gave the concert themselves, to a full church, conducted by Christopher Warren-Green, with Adam Ockelford of the Amber Trust and the pianist Derek Paravicini.
Our next Music Junction day takes place in early December at Esher Sixth Form College, with a new primary school. Christopher Warren-Green will conduct the evening concert, Derek Paravicini returns, and the composer Paul Pritchard is rewriting his Green Man so that the children can play it themselves. The musicians, the school and the programme are ready. The day costs £3,000, and that is what we are raising now.
Several more schools have asked to take part and are waiting only for the means to do so. Music has little room left in many school budgets, and the children who feel it first are those whose families cannot pay for lessons, or whose needs make each place cost more.
Every gift made here is kept for Music Junction alone. What we raise beyond the December day goes to the next, so that we can plan ahead and say yes to the schools that are waiting.
