Press Release: Bluestone Vineyards x LCO

The London Chamber Orchestra announces its new partnership with Bluestone Vineyards ahead of the orchestra’s centenary celebrations.

  • Bluestone Vineyards is an award winning English sparkling wine vineyard based in Wiltshire. Founders, brothers Toby and Nat McConnell, are from a family who have long admired the London Chamber Orchestra.
  • The London Chamber Orchestra will be celebrating its centenary across the 20/21 and 21/22 season.
  • As part of the centenary celebrations, Bluestone Vineyards will be releasing exclusive “LCO 100” sparkling wine and flutes.
  • The collaboration will begin by launching the “Crescendo” hamper which contains 2 bottles of Limited Edition Bluestone x LCO Classic Cuvee, 2 LCO Centenary Sparkling Wine Flutes and carefully curated cheese and charcuterie treats from local producers in Wiltshire. The launch will coincide with LCO’s centenary concert.
  • LCO will mark its 100th birthday with an online concert, “A Centenary Celebration” which will premiere on Friday 7 May at 7:30pm on LCO’s website, Facebook and YouTube channel. It will be available to stream for 1 week.
  • The concert will include a new collaborative composition, “A Century of Music,” by some of LCO’s closest artistic partners. Written for the orchestra and six soloists by seven composers, the piece features a birthday song contributed to and performed by some of LCO’s Music Junction participants (the orchestra’s educational outreach programme).
  • Members of LCO’s wider community have also been invited to perform alongside the orchestra to celebrate the orchestra’s 100th birthday.

Bluestone Founders added:

We are delighted to announce our partnership with the London Chamber Orchestra. As a family run business who have long been admirers of LCO, we couldn’t be happier to be working with such a prestigious orchestra, and like minded individuals. With shared values in the pursuit of excellence whilst maintaining a personal relationship with audience and consumers, we are very much looking forward to the future and to where this special relationship may lead. Life is for celebrating, and what better way than with world-class music and fine English sparkling wine?”

Martin Childs, Managing Director of the London Chamber Orchestra, added:

We are thrilled to share the exciting news about our partnership with Bluestone Vineyards – an award winning English sparkling wine vineyard based in Wiltshire. We can now offer our supporters and friends the opportunity to make their at home online concert experience so much more special, whilst supporting a like-minded family business.

What better way to start our 100th birthday concert than with a glass of Bluestone fizz!

We are looking forward to bringing this partnership through to in-person concerts and events in the not too distant future, and I hope to be able to share a glass with you then – Cheers and enjoy!”

Christopher Warren-Green, Principal Conductor and Music Director of LCO, commented:

“Undeniably wine and music are one of life’s great pairings and it is our great pleasure to begin our collaboration with this local vineyard.”

About Bluestone Vineyards

Welcome to the historic county of Wiltshire, the centre of UK civilisation for millennia, shrouded in mystery and still teasing us with hints of what has gone on here. She has another secret to share with the world – Internationally Award Winning Sparkling Wines.

Grapevines are extremely sensitive and revealing plants, and have been used for thousands of years telling tales of the land through bearing its fruits and being made into the “Nectar of the Gods”. The McConnell brothers at Bluestone Vineyards are extremely passionate about the outdoors, nature and and our place alongside it. They are here to grow beautiful, expressive grapes that are nurtured into wines of distinction and place, showcasing the beauty of everything from a single moment with the sole purpose of sharing it with you and the ones you love.

The McConnells branched out from running a popular visitor attraction focussed on conserving British Rare Breeds by welcoming the addition of 15,000 grapevines to the family. Our goal was to create more opportunities to spend time doing the things we loved and do it more often. We love to spend time with friends and family, so naturally we decided to grow and create a product with passion and purpose that could play the social centre or the supporting role.

Life is for celebrating and you should celebrate more. The small things, the big things and the in between things. You don’t need an excuse, do what you like, do what you love! Just be sure to do it with ones you love with a glass of Bluestone in hand.
