LCO Kids Events
In addition to the work done through the LCO and Barnardo's Music Junction project, the London Chamber Orchestra takes its musicians around south east England to bring children into the heart of the orchestra by inviting them to sit 'inside the orchestra' or to get to know specific instruments and understand how musicians communicate with each other.
Recent Events
On 13th December 2011, the London Chamber Orchestra visited the Meath School in Ottershaw. The Meath School is part of the I CAN charity Music education specialist, Caroline Welsh, led a workshop, which involved the children 'touring the orchestra' with the musicians on Haydn's 'Farewell Symphony'.
Using sign language, the children cued the musicians in and out at various points in the piece. In doing so, the children learnt about the collaboration between themselves and the music and the musicians.
The orchestra then performed a concert in Ottershaw, featuring the Meath School choir sign-singing the festive 'Little Drummer Boy', accompanied by LCO.
