A Musical AdventureUnder the title LCO Kids, London Chamber Orchestra launches its education project 'A Musical Adventure'. At the heart of LCO Kids is the plan to ensure that children have proper access to a real orchestral experience enjoying, where possible, the thrill of hearing an orchestra from the inside.
LCO Kids ‘A Musical Adventure’ takes LCO repertoire and helps children to put it into a context which will involve looking at the culture and history related to the work including, where appropriate, art, literature and dance.
LCO's Director of Education Rosemary Furniss leads a day of games and tuition specially devised to improve children's performance confidence and skills in orchestral playing, ending with a public performance of a specially arranged work.
LCO's first LCO Kids took place at Bunbury School, Cheshire, on 22 February. Fifty children performed an arrangement of Ravels
Tzigane with the London Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Warren-Green.
